Low-level eruptive activity within the summit crater continues. Seismicity remains above background and has changed little over the past day. Elevated surface temperatures were observed in one satellite image over the past day. Web camera views have been mostly obscured by clouds and occasional nearly cloud-free views showed nothing unusual.

There were no significant changes during the month of June 2015.

No earthquakes were located beneath Haleakalā (East Maui) volcano within the past month.

The single continuously recording GPS instruments on Haleakalā volcano did not record any significant deformation. A GPS survey of Haleakalā volcano at the end of July 2014 showed no significant motion since the previous survey in 2008.

Seismicity

During July 2015, the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, responsible for the operation and analysis of the Yellowstone Seismic Network, reports 66 earthquakes were located in the Yellowstone National Park (YNP) region. The largest event was a small earthquake of magnitude 2.2 on July 11, at 06:09 PM MDT, located about 13 miles north northwest of Lake, WY.

July seismicity included an earthquake swarm occurring on July 29th, 10 miles south southeast from West Yellowstone, MT, accounting for 14 earthquakes (ranging in magnitude from 0.2 to 1.9). The largest swarm …

Hualalai Monthly Update issued Jul 14, 2015 06:38 Volcano Alert Level NORMAL – Aviation Color Code GREEN

No unusual seismicity or deformation was detected during the month of June 2015.

One earthquake was located in the vicinity of the summit and northwest rift zone of Hualālai Volcano – none were attributable to volcanic processes.

The single continuous GPS receiver atop Hualālai recorded slight motion that is probably associated with the inflation of Mauna Loa.
